This semester we've been hard at work launching the pilot period for our first Satellite Store at Northwest Middle School, thanks to the generous support of the Junior League of Indianapolis and American College of Education. We also couldn't have done it without some all-star volunteer effort. In this month's Volunteer Profile, we're happy to introduce you to Kari Kittleson, our Satellite Store Volunteer Lead.
I have been at Teachers' Treasures for a little over two years!
What do you typically do when you’re here?
When I am at the 10th street location I typically work check-in. Now that I am helping to open our satellite store at Northwest Middle School I am doing a bit of everything! We have taken a blank classroom and turned it into another store!
What’s your favorite part of volunteering?
I love feeling productive and that I am doing something to help others. After a 15 year career teaching in a variety of schools, I know what I am doing now helps hundreds of teachers!
What do you enjoy doing outside of Teachers’ Treasures?
Since "retiring" I have taken up tennis, learned how to play Bridge and read 77 books last year! These are my hobbies beyond my love of taking care of my husband and our two teenage sons!
Obviously we’re big fans of teachers! Who is a teacher that made an impact on your life?
I loved my US history teacher in high school and to be honest I don't remember why he sticks with me?! He was just a really good teacher who made learning history fun, interesting and intriguing! I ended up getting a minor in history in college because of him.
What is your favorite school supply?
I love notepads! Right now I have four different notepads on my desk with animals, saying, quotes, and one with organized areas for my thought. I write on them all!

Thank you for sharing your story and for all of your hard work at Teachers' Treasures, Kari!
