Teachers were my safe haven.  Times have changed in the many years since I was in elementary school.  Back in the day, schools provided all that teachers wanted and needed to provide a lifetime of memories and learning for students. Today, teachers still want to give their students a strong base for a happy and productive life.  But, the economy makes it more difficult every day.

Back when I was an elementary and high school student, life at home was dysfunctional at best.  We had very little affection and even less money for extras, which my father considered school supplies.  In elementary school, my teachers were my life savers.  I was very lucky to have a couple of teachers at my school that I trusted with my 'behind closed door' secrets.  Because we weren't allowed to be a part of extra curricular activities, clubs or groups; these few very special teachers found ways for me to stay after school to earn extra credit...which my parents allowed.

I am now 49 yrs old.  I've raised my own 4 kids on my own...have had a huge role in raising my 4 step-kids and fostered many others who still call me 'mom'!  Since I didn't have positive role models at home; I learned how to care, learn and teach from my childhood teachers.  As a matter of fact, I am still in close contact with a couple of my childhood teachers who have become good friends and mentors.

It is because of these special teachers that I am passionate about my 'work' at Teachers Treasures.  Using my life experiences, I could have continued my career, where I would again have to follow someone else's rules and agenda.  But after years of being part of the 'system', I have chosen to find my own ways to help those in need, those who have no one in their corner.

Teachers Treasures gives me a wonderful opportunity to help those who helped me when I needed it most, teachers, in a time when they need it most! My experiences at Teachers Treasures have enriched my life in many ways.

Thank you!
